Sam Ohuabunwa Foundation for Economic Empowerment (SOFEE) started operations in 1998 running capacity building programmes for the SME sub-sector, including training, workshops, counselling and mentorship for SME business operators who have benefited tremendously under the SOFEE Cost Effective SME Business Empowerment Programme.
The foundation has also initiated Student and Youth Empowerment Programmes which were on course with Students and the Youths being the direct beneficiaries of the respective initiatives. SOFEE places great premium on these two programme segments as much work needs to be done to harness the huge economic potentials which are derivable from their gifting, creativity and energies when put in proper use.
In line with various international conventions, including CEDAW, SOFEE believes in empowering women through the development of their productive capacities. To achieve this, the foundation trains both aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs. The foundation is also involved in public enlightenment, campaign and advocacy in a bid to encourage women to succeed in business and leverage to achieve growth.
SOFEE's programmes are the vehicles through which the vision, mission, objects, mandates and activities of the organization are processed and executed under specific thematic arrangements for the benefit of its intended target audience or beneficiaries. These programmes include:
Full Membership of the foundation is open to individuals including entrepreneurs, businessmen and persons aspiring to be entrepreneurs, corporate organizations, students who are offered Associate Membership. Each membership status attracts an annual fee with benefits attached depending on the category of membership subscribed. There are three main categories of membership including the following:
Mazi Samuel Iheanyichukwu Ohuabunwa was born on the 16th of August, 1950; married to LadyStella Omude Ohuabunwa, blessed with children and grand-children, has been honoured severallyby his community, profession and industry, but significantly he has been honoured thrice by thenation - Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), in 2001, and Officer of the order of the FederalRepublic (OFR), in 2011 and National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award in 2018. MaziSamuel Iheanyichukwu Ohuabunwa is a proven leader, Lay Minister, social worker, entrepreneur, Nation Builder, columnist in national dailies and author all rolled into one and he credits all hissuccesses to the grace of God.
Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa read Pharmacy at the University of Ife (now OAU) graduating in 1976. Hedid Postgraduate training in Business and Organizational Management at the ColumbiaUniversity, N.Y, USA and the Lagos Business School, Lagos. He is a recipient of an HonoraryDegree of Doctor of Business Administration from Gregory University, Uturu. He joined PfizerProducts Plc. in 1978 as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and rose to become the Chairman/CEO in 1993.

The Foundation is currently funded majorly by its Founder/Chairman, with pighter prospects of other Individuals, Corporate Institutions and Institutional Donors joining hands with the Founder in funding the respective programmes, projects and activities of the Foundation.
The foundation has a wide range of projects impacting positively on Individuals, SMEs, Corporate Organizations, Groups & Communities, and available for sponsorship, including its conferences & workshops.
The foundation is currently working in strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Labour; Productivity, Nigeria on Poverty Reduction, Job Creation, Investment; Entrepreneurship Development, and Improving the Productive Capacities of Labour in the Nigerian economy. New partnership arrangements are also being worked out with other government institutions and private sector-based organizations in the prosecution of the objects for which the foundation is established.
